Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, Shamso Elmi migrated through Saudi Arabia and India before arriving in Canada in 1987. She faced early loss, an arranged marriage, and the challenges of refugee life. A mother of seven who lost three children, she now supports newcomers and co-healing initiatives, offering strength and solidarity to those impacted by displacement and violence.
